Basic Cost and Financing
California has several programs that make Solar Electric Systems a great option for anyone who owns a home and has a desire to control their energy bill.
First, California offers a $2.80 per watt rebate. For example, California will pay for $7,000 of the total cost of a 2.5 kW solar system. The rebate is directly tied to the size of the system, which means the larger the system, the larger the rebate. Therefore buying a solar electric system not only saves you money on you power bills; it is a very cost effective way to increase equity of your home.
Second, California offers a 7.5% tax credit on the cost of the system after the rebate which will be in affect until December 31, 2005.
